Working on Your Wicked Problem

The chapter called “How Can Design Thinking Help Us?” focuses on using design thinking to imagine, design, implement, and evaluate a project that will have an impact on your wicked problem. The chapter called “The Ethics Of Working On Wicked Problems” describes some of the potential risks student projects can create for stakeholders and the PSU community and how to mitigate these risks. The chapter called “Rules for Research on Humans” explains the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process you might need to go through if your project work is going to involve doing any sort of research (like surveys or interviews) on human beings. The chapter called “Creating Effective Surveys and Interviews” describes best practices for these common techniques to empathize with stakeholders of your wicked problem. The chapter called “Fundraising For Outside Organizations” describes the rules regarding collecting money or other goods for (or in conjunction with) organizations outside of PSU.
