Welcome Researchers!
This free certification is based on information from the HHS Office for Human Research Protections’ (OHRP) and from the UNH Research Office and is used by permission.
After you have done all of the required readings and achieved a 75% or better on the quiz, you will receive a certificate. The certificate will be emailed to you at your address associated with your Canvas account. You may also click on the “Certificate” activity on the last page to save or print the document when you have met the criteria. The certificate is valid at Granite State College for 3 years from the time it is issued.
The National Institutes of Health and many other federal agencies are committed to the protection of human subject in research. The NIH Office of Extramural Research established a policy on Required Education in the Protection of Human Research Participants in 2000. The policy was revised in January 2019. This course is specifically designed for investigators and is one (of many) possibilities for meeting the training requirement. If you have already completed Human Research Protection Training at another institution within the past three years, you may present that certification to your instructor and to the GSC Instructional Review Board (IRB).
The information included has been chosen to help you understand how to protect individuals in research and to fulfill course requirements for education in the protection of human subjects. It does not reflect the entire policy of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or other agencies that follow the regulations in 45 CFR 46, known as the Common Rule.
